HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN SAY
Dear Secretary Perdue,
I'm writing to oppose the Administration's proposed "Revision of Categorical Eligibility in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)" that would end automatic certification for free school meals for nearly 1 million kids at school.
One of our core values as a nation is the belief in opportunity that every child has the chance to succeed and to achieve their dreams. But our kids can't be hungry to learn when they're just plain hungry.
The proposed rule may lead to 3 million people losing SNAP benefits and put free school meals in jeopardy for as many as 1 million kids. This would be a double whammy for kids—lost meals at home and at school.
Restricting or eliminating this policy would be a massive step backwards in the fight to end childhood hunger. If this happens, more kids will be hungry. Our children deserve better.
I oppose the proposed "Revision of Categorical Eligibility in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)" (FNS-2018-0037) and urge you to reject this deeply flawed proposal.
Thank you for considering my views.
