SNAP is one of our nation's most effective tools to fight hunger and poverty - helping over 40 million people, including nearly 16 million children, afford groceries. The changes made during through budget reconciliation undercut SNAP's ability and reach to end childhood hunger by:

- Eroding the value of SNAP benefits over time - making it harder for families to keep up with the rising cost of food.
- Shifting administrative and benefit costs to states - a burden that could result in delayed services or reduced access for families in need, or the worst case scenario, states dropping out of SNAP altogether.
- Expanding harsh time limits and bureaucratic barriers for adults up to age 64, including those with children aged 14 and older - policies that will disproportionately harm older adults, parents, and caregivers who already face challenges finding stable employment.

As your constituent, I urge you to fight for kids and families by
1. Reversing the dangerous cuts and policy changes made to SNAP through budget reconciliation
2. Fully funding SNAP, WIC, and school meals and protecting these programs from any additional cuts in the upcoming appropriations process.

It's more critical than ever that we work together to end hunger, and not pass legislation that makes it worse. While I'm disappointed these cuts were passed, it's not too late to do the right thing for kids and families.
