Tell Congress: Cuts to SNAP will increase child hunger!

Congress passed a historic, harmful, and unpopular bill that makes deep cuts to SNAP - a program that helps millions of families put food on the table.

Write to your member of Congress and urge them to use their power and position to reverse these harmful cuts to SNAP and reject any additional proposals that would make it even harder for families to put food on the table.

Cuts to SNAP will increase child hunger

Dear [Decision Maker],

In this bill, I reject:

- Requiring updates to the Thrifty Food Plan to be cost-neutral. This will decrease the value of SNAP over time - meaning it will be harder for families to keep up with rising grocery costs.

- Forcing states to pay even more of the cost to administer SNAP and, for the first time ever, to pay a percentage of SNAP benefits themselves. The reality is that states are unable to shoulder this additional burden and millions of kids and families will be left struggling to put food on the table.

- Increasing the amount of SNAP participants subject to a time limit and the additional bureaucratic paperwork required for adults up to age 64. This will increase hunger and hardship by forcing more seniors and parents of young kids to meet the strictest work requirements and fails to recognize the real barriers caregivers and older adults face in the workplace.

Our communities are stronger, healthier and more resilient when every family has access to the food they need. Sadly, this new law will increase hunger and make life harder for children and families across the nation.

While I am disappointed that these cuts were passed in the first place, there is still time to protect our most vulnerable from hunger and harm. You must use your power and position to reverse these harmful cuts to SNAP and reject any additional proposals that would make it even harder for families to put food on the table.

Sincerely,
