I am writing today to urge you to pass a comprehensive stimulus package that makes sure families can feed their children while also helping to stabilize the economy.

Thank you for standing up for children in recent days with the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, a bipartisan bill which provided a critical step forward in making sure communities have the resources and flexibility they need to respond to the immediate needs of families and children during this pandemic. But there is still more to do. The aftershocks of the coronavirus pandemic will be felt in households for months to come. Along with immediate relief, as jobs are lost and entire industries are disrupted, American families need a plan for recovery in the future. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Act (SNAP) is an effective and efficient way to feed children. It is also shown to be an extremely effective stimulus to the economy.

I am urging you to make sure any COVID-19 economic recovery package builds on SNAP's economic stimulus effects by

1. Boosting the SNAP maximum benefit by at least 15 percent;
2. Increasing the minimum SNAP benefit from $16 to $30;
3. Suspending all SNAP administrative rules that would terminate or weaken benefits; and
4. Expanding the SNAP Restaurant Meal Program (RMP) to all SNAP households.
