TELL CONGRESS: SNAP Protects Kids from Hunger.

SNAP helps families do one basic thing: feed their kids. It's one of the most effective anti-hunger programs in the country, reaching millions of households who are working, caregiving, or trying to get back on their feet while costs keep rising.

But right now, that lifeline has been eroded. The largest cuts ever made to SNAP are taking effect while groceries remain unaffordable and family budgets are already stretched thin. This will force more parents to make impossible trade-offs and leave more kids facing hunger.

This isn't about politics, it's about whether families can count on food being there when they need it. Families can’t afford uncertainty when it comes to feeding their kids. This is a moment of choice for Congress. They can support the 42 million Americans, including 16 million children, who participate in SNAP, or turn their backs as more families face hunger and hardship. Lawmakers must act now to defend SNAP and give families the stability they need to weather hard times.

SNAP Protects Kids From Hunger

Dear [Decision Maker],

SNAP is basic infrastructure for families. It's how parents plan grocery budgets, keep food on the table, and get through layoffs, illness, or rising costs without their kids losing access to the nutrition they need. When SNAP is weakened or made unreliable, families don't just lose benefits, they lose the ability to plan, to stretch limited resources, and to meet their children's most basic needs.

42 million people, including nearly 16 million children, participate in SNAP. It remains one of the most efficient and effective tools we have to fight hunger and reduce poverty in the U.S. At a time when too many Americans are already facing hunger, the cuts in H.R.1 will put millions of kids and families at greater risk of hunger and hardship.

Right now, families are being squeezed from every direction. Wages and job opportunities aren't keeping up with the cost of groceries, rent, and everyday essentials. This is stretching household budgets to the breaking point. For millions of hardworking parents, SNAP is what makes food affordable. Cutting this critical program now makes life harder for families already doing everything they can to get by.

The changes made in H.R. 1 undercut SNAP's ability to end childhood hunger by:

- Eroding the value of SNAP benefits over time, making it harder for families to keep up with the rising cost of food.
- Shifting administrative and benefit costs to states a burden that could result in delayed services or reduced access for families in need, or the worst case scenario, states dropping out of SNAP altogether.
- Expanding harsh time limits and bureaucratic barriers for more participants, including those with children aged 14 and older policies that will disproportionately harm older adults, parents and caregivers, and others who already face challenges finding stable employment.

As my Member of Congress, I urge you to fight for kids and families by undoing harmful cuts to SNAP and working to protect kids and families by strengthening this critical program.

It's not too late to do the right thing for millions of kids and families across the country, including those in our own backyard. Please do everything in your power to restore, strengthen, and defend SNAP so families can count on this essential support when they need it most.

Sincerely,
