TELL CONGRESS: Protect Kids from Hunger. Restore SNAP.

SNAP helps millions of families feed their kids and stay afloat when times are tough. And when SNAP benefits were suspended during the longest government shutdown in history, the country saw exactly what happens when that lifeline is put at risk. We saw how vital, and irreplaceable, SNAP is to fighting hunger in every community.

But even with that hard lesson fresh in mind, the largest cuts ever made to SNAP are taking effect while groceries remain unaffordable and Congress stands by cuts that would take food off the tables of kids and families already struggling to make ends meet. Weeks of political gridlock have only added to the uncertainty and stress that no parent should have to face.

One thing is clear: families can’t afford uncertainty when it comes to feeding their kids.

Now, Congress has a choice. Support the 42 million Americans, including 16 million children, who participate in SNAP, or turn their backs as more families face hunger and hardship. Lawmakers must act now to pass the Restoring Food Security for American Families Act of 2025 that would reverse the cuts in H.R. 1 and protect families as they weather hard times and build a more stable future.

Restore SNAP

Dear [Decision Maker],

As we saw in November, these cuts translate into real uncertainty and hardship at the dinner table for hardworking families across the country. During the shutdown, millions were left uncertain if or when they would receive their November SNAP benefits a stark reminder of how dangerous it is to use food as a political bargaining chip. That's why I am asking you to join your colleagues in fighting for kids and families by supporting the Restoring Food Security for American Families Act of 2025. Families can't afford to pay the price for Washington's gridlock or allow political games to decide whether their kids get to eat.

Across our nation, 42 million people, including nearly 16 million children, participate in SNAP. It remains one of the most efficient and effective tools we have to fight hunger and reduce poverty in the U.S. At a time when too many Americans are already facing hunger, the cuts in H.R.1 will put millions of kids and families at greater risk of hunger and hardship.

Right now, families are being squeezed from every direction. The cost of groceries, rent, and everyday essentials has stretched household budgets to the breaking point. For millions of parents, SNAP is what makes food affordable. Cutting this critical program now makes life harder for families already doing everything they can to get by.

The changes made in H.R. 1 undercut SNAP's ability to end childhood hunger by:

- Eroding the value of SNAP benefits over time, making it harder for families to keep up with the rising cost of food.
- Shifting administrative and benefit costs to states a burden that could result in delayed services or reduced access for families in need, or the worst case scenario, states dropping out of SNAP altogether.
- Expanding harsh time limits and bureaucratic barriers for more participants, including those with children aged 14 and older policies that will disproportionately harm older adults, parents and caregivers, and others who already face challenges finding stable employment.

As your constituent, I urge you to fight for kids and families by supporting the Restoring Food Security for American Families and Farmers Act of 2025, a bicameral bill that seeks to reverse the dangerous cuts and policy changes made to SNAP in H.R. 1.

It's not too late to do the right thing for millions of kids and families across the country, including those in our own backyard. Please do everything in your power to restore, strengthen, and defend SNAP and other crucial nutrition programs by passing this important bill as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,
