Hungry kids in our state need Build Back Better
Dear [Decision Maker],
Millions of children and families are still waiting for your vote on Build Back Better. This is your chance to make sure kids in our state have the food they need to grow up healthy and strong. It's so important; please don't let this legislation die. Here's what you can do to help struggling kids and families: First, extend the expanded, fully refundable Child Tax Credit. Starting in January, millions of families won't get this monthly check, which helped so MANY pay for necessities like food, rent, diapers and utilities. It's hard to overstate what this means for kids. Census data shows that it lifted 3.8 million children over the poverty line and had an immediate impact on cutting hunger. Second, make the Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer program, or Summer EBT, available nationwide. This program helps get more food to kids in need when schools are out of session by giving parents and caregivers an additional benefit to buy groceries in the summer months. And finally, strengthen the Community Eligibility Program, or CEP. CEP gives schools the ability to reach more kids in the highest poverty areas with the meals they need with less red tape. This helps kids focus on learning and not their empty stomachs. Please don't leave Build Back Better stuck in Congress.
